PLUS1 // Sofie Livebrant
Born in Stockholm, Sweden 1972. Sofie wrote her first song when she was nine years old. She plays piano, guitar as well as sings. She studied at Sodra Latins Gymnasium and The Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
From very early on she used poems for her music, Shakespeare, Karin Boye and Flower-poems. Later on she came in contact with the writers: Dan Andersson, Claes Andersson, Sylvia Plath, Jeanette Winterson, Virginia Woolf, Emily Dickinson and has added music to their words or uses them for readings in concerts.
She has composed a Christmas oratorio: Mary’s Question (2001), with folktales, for ex. Bronsons book of Ballads. As well as choir-music: Nursery Rhymes – for kids, youngsters and grownups from the English children rhyme tradition. She has also composed a lot of theatre music during the years: Brothers Karamazov- Dostojevskij, School of Wives – Molière, Dario Fo among others.
She has worked with well loved Swedish folksinger Sofia Karlsson, as a composer and musician. They have been touring the whole Scandinavia for the past few years. Sofia Karlsson has been rewarded with several Grammy-awards’s, the latest 2012 for best folk CD – “Levande”, wherein Sofie has a large part with her songs, playing instruments and singing two duets.

In 2010 she released her first Cd From Here To Here with both music and lyrics written by Sofie Livebrant. On April 18th 2012 the new album “Emily and I” met the world. The album contains eleven songs from Emily Dickinsons poems. The Swedish edition is a book with paintings of Lars Lerin, prosetranslations of Ann-Marie Vinde, comments, biographies and more. Adding the movie and music project Lighthouse Stories with songs based on the novel Lighthousekeeping 2016 by Jeanette Winterson. Album Secrets 2018 an album with her own lyrics who led her to travel to Sardinia and Georgia to meet choirs who sings in old folk traditions.
PLUS1-koncerter i Maskinhallen. EN KONCERT ER EN GAVE
Koncerter kl. 13.00 – den første onsdag i måneden. Maskinhallen vil gerne udfordre det traditionelle koncertformat både hvad angår ramme, tidspunkt og indhold. Et af vores tiltag i den retning er vores PLUS1-koncerter hvor man får en ekstra billet med, når man køber en til sig selv. Ideen er at man inviterer en god ven, kollega, et familiemedlem eller noget helt fjerde med til koncert. Og meget gerne en person der ikke ellers kommer til koncert med livemusik. Erik Holm Sørensen og Rikke Rugholt er vores faste værter ved PLUS1-koncerterne og det er i høj grad via deres netværk og store arbejde med at udbrede kendskabet til disse koncerter, at de har etableret sig som et tilløbsstykke på et ellers utraditionelt tidspunkt.
Kom med til koncert og mød kunstnerne bagefter når publikum og de optrædende drikker kaffe og spiser kage sammen og taler om det øjeblik, de netop har været sammen om at skabe.
